The Essence of an Artist
|
"...capturing the nuance and essence of
the tropical feeling." Mark Daniells paints the North Shore of Kauai where he has lived since 1981. He considers the area in and around Hanalei as the most beautiful place on the planet. " I've lived near the ocean all my life and thrive on the lifestyle it affords." Mark grew up in the Pacific on the islands of Guam and Palau and the Philippines. This early immersion in beautiful surroundings is the lasting influence that compelled him to be an artist. Mark currently works in watercolor, oils, wood, etched glass and stained glass. Various commission pieces enable him to keep a rich and diverse selection of activities. "I enjoy capturing the nuance and essence of the tropical feeling. I range in emphasis from panoramic seascapes to close up foliage studies to wildlife, always conveying that magical ingredient that connects us with the subject." Mark's Bio - Mark's Life of Inspiration Mark Daniells Gallery History Mark Daniells Gallery in Hanalei was established in 1990 on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. The building was carefully designed to fit in with the plantation style architecture of the rural beachside community. A corner of the original 1940's structure was saved and the gallery was built around it, maintaining some of the original siding and old-style windows. In 2001, the gallery was turned to face the road and gain more exposure. The mountains and waterfalls of Hanalei are seen from the front lanai. Throughout the years it has provided Mark with a light and open space in which to paint and show his work. It has truly been a dream come true.
